This is an understated Teochew restaurant in the heartlands of Bedok with good, honest food. Their signature dishes are worth trying and can easily rival that in higher-end restaurants. The crispy fried duck deserves special mention.

Sunday night rolls around, and it's family dinner time. Time to pick dad's brain for something to try, for he is the resource for all things tzi char. Tere are probably a gazillions tzi char places in Singapore, of which he spends careful time pruning his select list of places we should try before they disappear from a host of reasons including skyrocketing rents, internal kitchen feuds between master and disciple, and the lack of a succeeding generation. Traditionalists island-wide are a dying breed. Anyhows, dad says Jing Long is a HDB void deck place lah, so we'd got the impression that impression that it was a shorts and t-shirt kinda place... Well sorta. We rock up and yes, it's under a HDB block, but it looks pretty good leh! Private rooms and all, so I dwelt super under-dressed when I thought I'd be coming to sweat it out. They were welcoming enough, so in we went. Orders went in, and food's out pretty quick - were we the last ones to order? The sea cucumber, snap peas and mushrooms were out first, and I don't normally even have sea cucumber, but these were braised beautifully, and had that spongey-ness while maintaining some bite. The signature pork ribs were a great recommendation too - with a pork belly-like mix of fat and char, and were super fine-diney in presentation; something that I felt was a little over the top. Tofu and some fried duck pancake too? House specialties, and were okay, but nothing special. At just over $100 total, I thought we ate rather well!
